Poor Business Cases

The good thing is that most now have a BC and can spell Cost / Benefit, etc. The bad thing is that these analyzes are often created as a 'fill in the blanks "where the numbers just inserted witout any brain activity. So we get nice and positive analysis and we get ok on our projects.
Now it's just that it's hard to be pessimistic about the costs and it's hard not to be optimistic on sales / revenues. Therefore, these curves always like this:
- And therefore all Business Cases look too good. Remember that it is the one who creates the curves, which is responsible - it's not the decision maker. The decision-maker is however liable to fire you because of insanity!

If you do as usual, you get ...

..  the usual results. In the same way with your projects in the organization. If you do (ie organizes, manages, specifies, estimates, plans etc.) as usual the projects will also go as usual.
If you tend to have ex. an overrun of 25%, delay of 15% and quality problems by 20% of the features, it will also happen with your current and future projects.
It means only marginally to spend more time on estimation (internal perspective) because it is the whole way you run projects (external perspective) that account for most of the uncertainty in your estimates.  It therefore makes more sense to make broad comparisons with other projects of the same type than to go into detail about each project.
A bit hardcore reading of this matter can be enjoyed here.

In addition, we have the world's best workforce! Read more here.

and we are second best to produce talent! Read more here.

and we are third best to innovate in the world! Read more here.

Anniversary

Yesterday it was Tom Cruise's and today is the Meredith Belbin's birthday. Both known for Mission Impossible - respectively criminals and impossible team members!
While Mr. Cruise is always doing the cases, we have more difficult to manage our teams, but at least we have a lot of help in Belbin's 9 team roles. So thanks for them and congratulations!

It's not a lie if..

you in time can turn it into truth ". I heard a business man say this some time ago.
I'm not sure if this opinion is nescessary when you try to balance between success and failure. But now you have got the advice.
